  8. This is a periodic posting on how to get information about the
  9. National Science Foundation (NSF) Internet.
  10.  
  11. The NSFNET Network Service Center (NNSC) makes current documentation
  12. on the NSFNET available via a mail server and by anonymous ftp.
  13.  
  14. Because the contents of the documents are constantly being updated,
  15. this posting only describes how to obtain a current copy rather than
  16. providing the data directly.
  17.  
  18. 1) Using anonymous FTP:
  19.    host:             SH.CS.NET
  20.    username:         anonymous
  21.    password:         guest
  22.    directory:        nsfnet        (i.e. type:  cd nsfnet )
  23.  
  24. The files "help-ftp", "help.1" and "nsfnet-help" will provide you with
  25. information to get started.
  26.  
  27. 2) Using the mail server: Send mail to the address shown below (either
  28.    nnsc.nsf.net or sh.cs.net) and leave the "Subject;" line blank.
  29.    The first line of the message body should contain a "Request:"
  30.    line, followed by a "Topic:" line, as described below.  You do not
  31.    need a "Subject:" line, but be sure your mailer puts out a valid
  32.    "From:" line that the server can respond to!

  34. To obtain general information on the CSNET INFO SERVER send the
  35. following message to the mail-server "info-server@nnsc.nsf.net" or
  36. "info-server@sh.cs.net":

  39.     Topic: Help
  40.  
  41. To obtain current contact information on the NSFNET and its affiliated
  42. regional networks, send the following mail message to the mail-server:

  48. To obtain information on how to connect to the Internet through the
  49. NSFNET or an NSF-affiliated network, send the following mail message
  50. to the mail-server "info-server@nnsc.nsf.net":

  55. To obtain information on the documents currently available on the
  56. NSFNET from the info-server, send the following mail message to the

  64. send mail or call them.  It would be a good idea to read the NSFNET
  65. documents first though.
